I served in the RM Band on Eagle from '67 to '69 and have just today found this terrific web site and I have already spotted an old colleague. Ginge Ex RMB.

John,The HMS EAGLE called in at Durban South Africa around 1968/70.The goverment asked the country to give the crew a warm South African welcome,which we did.I now live in the uk & would love to meet up with any of the crew that we entertained all those years ago.I'm afraid I cannot remember any names but my neighbours did say one of the crew returned & called at our home.We were away on holiday at the time.Could you please contact me & I will give details of my address & whatever else you may ned.

Hi I was on Eagle between 1968-1970. Flight deck stoker. Always all ceremonials and official guard!

Thanks to BJ and his magic team for putting on a great event, my first but not my last. Great to see old friends, well perhaps not so old. George, Kerry, John etc and of course their delightful ladies. The facilities at the hotel were grand but checking in was bad and they kept many people waiting a very long time and the bar prices were way over the top. One of our group paid £30 to have a cheap bottle of plonk delivered to his room.
However the event was about friends and the pleasure we got from it all, that cannot be measured in words. A big thankyou to one and all for making it a truly memorable occasion.

Excellent re-union, very friendly atmosphere. Bar prices and location not good.

The 2011 reunion was a great success and,many thanks to all who made it happen, especially BJ. The hotel and its facilities were very good, i used the pool and the gym. ( They are also supported by private subscription )
But, with those bar prices i thought i was in the Ritz. No, i would not go there again. Sorry Chris' is giving up his role, he does it well

meeting up wih Garth after 45 years and seeing Keiron and Nicky again made a gret weekend very special . We had a fab time . The swim and jacuzzi before dinner every day was just icing on a very sweet cake.Looking forward to next year.
