Another Remembrance Day parade at the Cenotaph in London today for Dave (The bopping Pongo and myself):
Great day out with some lovely people:
Weather let us down just as we were given the order to "Quick March" it started flaming raining (Great timing that was)
We all got a bit damp (ish) but that didn't stop us from doing the best we could
(How was your parade up at Blackpool Derek?) Hope your weather was a bit better after all that trouble you had with the wind
(Well no - not YOU personally - The windy weather I mean!!)
No claim to fame on the telly this year though but still just as proud to have been marching

BIG JOHN:
WELL DONE MY UNDAUNTED OPPO,OUR HAPPY SNAPPER AND THE BOPPING PONGO, I WATCHED IT TWICE... BUT COULD NOT GET A PHOTIE OF YOU THIS YEAR.. SHAME... SHARON SAID " NO WIDE ANGLE ON THE CAMERA"... I DON'T GET THAT... HONEST OPPO!

my late father, Jim Riley, was an Army Staff Sgt and part of the 4 man 67 CBGLS (Carrier Borne Ground Liaison Section) which was on board HMS Eagle on early 50's cruises.
I understand all carriers of the time had these small Army sections in the crew.
Led by an Artillery officer the purpose of the team was that they could be put ashore in a conflict and seek out land based targets to radio back to the carrier.
To my knowledge
When "ashore" 67 CBGL section was based at Ford RNAS station in Sussex..

I know my father did two Far East tours in 52-54, one of which was on the Eagle.
Can you advise where I might find the itinerary of that trip.
He also did a similar Far East tour on HMS Warrior in this period
My father played trombone in the ships band and my Mother had a photograph of this - .

Does anyone of your website contacts have any knowledge of the role of these Army blokes on carriers in the early 50's I wonder.

best Wishes

Rob Riley

Good to hear you're home again George - Nice one mate:
I'm sure you'll try your level best but I still don't think Ann will regard a double rum as the tonic your Doctor might have had in mind but go for it anyway
(You never know!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Ann - The Doctor said George should have a "steady" bath every day
NOT a "beddy" bath every day - Don't let him kid you on

Now just concentrate on getting better mate

All the best from me and Mrs. Whiskey

"David Cameron says he is 'exasperated' and 'furious' with the way in which he has no power other than to capitulate to bullying from European Courts," said UKIP Leading Spokesman Nigel Farage.
"Well he must at last be sharing the rage of the British people who are fed up with being dictated to by people like him and his close friends in Brussels.

"As far as anybody can see the fact that he may allow rapists and murderers to vote is a direct consequence of Britain's acceptance of the Lisbon Treaty, which put the European Convention on Human Rights and judgements of the Court in Strasbourg into British law.

"We do not know for sure because the legal advice is not public, but if that is not the case, then he is doing it because he wants to, and damn the views of the British public," Mr Farage said.

"There is no way that the people of this country want to give prisoners the right to vote. By committing crimes they have surrendered the privileges of society. When they leave prison, when they have served their dues, then those rights are returned, but not before.

"It is a disgrace that we cower before a panel of judges that have no feeling for, nor liking of, our common law system. A system built on a thousand years of common practice, and a system that has, since the Middle Ages, recognised a concept of 'civic death'. That means your rights are forfeited if you break the law and are convicted," he said.

"Did anybody who voted for Cameron vote for criminals to get the vote? Did they vote to increase the EU budget? Did they vote to hand over our aircraft carriers to the French?

"Of course not. Every single Tory must feel betrayed," said Mr Farage.

Don't matter which party you're talking about mate - You'll be stabbed in the back by ALL of our political parties if you're British
Look back through history - Can anyone name ANY political party who weren't in power to line their own pockets at the tax payer's expense and sod what we thought
I have my own collective title for our wonderful British politicians - - - -

Well Gents, it looks like the MOD have done it again, they have ordered CO's to stop holding Cocktail Parties. A cocktail party costs around £1000 a time, but that is far outweighed by the good they do for foreign relations. Cant imagine arriving in a foreign port and the ship not holding a cocktail party. I wonder when these MOD so called boffins were last , IF EVER at sea on a ship. If they want to save money, they need to look closer to home, like inside the MOD.
