Was Safety Equipment on 820sqd(Whirlwinds) when we came on board for a few months in 1959 before going onto the Ark.

I was one of the Aircrewman on the SAR chopper. Lived in 5P1 mess with the Gannet crew and the ships butchers (most of whom were in a pop group)+ 1 RO (Roger Dunt) who had been kicked out of the Comms Mess. Left on return to the UK in Aug 68. Best 9 months of my 29 years in the mob

Hi Joined Big 'E' in Liverepool in 1970 as AB RP3 left in June 1972. Spent most of my time in 6J1 mess working in PV spaces and 0ps room. Only just found this site great to see the 'E' is not forgotten.

Hi.. My Brother, Ian Reid, served on this ship until his death (aged 19) in Valetta 1958. I would be grateful if anyone remembers him.

I have been asked by FRANK DRAPER's family to advise ex shipmates of his sad death on 14.07.08. Frank was a meteorologist on the fifth and sixth commish. We had known each other since childhood. I was a sparky on the fifth so we had some pretty eventful runs ashore. Our families grew up together and became great friends so his death at such a young age(60)is incredibly sad. R.I.P.
